Clock by Carolyn Hines

He sits there on the wall telling time, but no one sees him

They pay more attention to his digital version

As they have a conversation

He sits there on the wall all day everyday

Moving his arms clockwise until he runs out of life

He believes he’s wasting time because no one pays attention anymore

He’s tired of seeing the same people everyday

Seeing how they waste time

He just wants to rest at the end of the day

But he can’t because he has to keep up with the time

He sits there wondering what it would be like to rest

As everyone goes home and leaves him in the dark
